Sponsor Announcement Ceremony
Besides the impressive 90 projects submitted during the preliminary round, the allure of BKI 2024 is equally attributed to the invaluable support of several domestic and foreign sponsors and patrons. Their generous financial and material contributions, coupled with their inspiring spirit, have empowered the organizing committee to scale up the competition, enhance its quality, and create an optimal environment for teams to unleash their full potential. Round 1 – Kick-off
Round 1 of BKI 2024 took place on July 20, 2024, with the enthusiastic participation of 52 student teams. Well-prepared and thorough as they were, they also faced challenges from the rigorous judging panel and a barrage of tough questions.
The judging panel highly appreciated the creativity and learning spirit of each team, and thus provided valuable and constructive feedback, which will undoubtedly serve as crucial input to help the teams further refine their projects.
Following Round 1, which only welcomed undergraduate teams, the judging panel selected 40 student teams to advance to the next round, where they will compete against the teams from the Startup and High-school Student categories.
Round 2: Accelerating Forward
The preliminary round was able to identify 10 teams from the Startup category and 20 teams from the High-school Student category to advance directly to Round 2, held on August 17, 2024. This round comprised one panel for the Startup category, five panels for the Undergraduate Student category, and two panels for the High-school Student category. Over 20 judges—experts in BKI’s respective fields and seasoned professionals in entrepreneurship and innovation—graced the occasion.
In the Startup category, the 10 teams continuously impressed the judging panel and spectators with their innovative projects and products. Most startups had brought fully functional prototypes, offering attendees firsthand experiences within the examination room. Projects leveraging technology and engineering garnered particularly positive feedback.
The Undergraduate Student and High-school Student categories were equally compelling as the participants maintained the confident demeanor exhibited in the previous round, while further refining their projects and products. Their presentations were highly commended for their design and delivery, especially the in-depth explanations, often delivered fluently in English. The judging panel encouraged the teams to foster a more innovative spirit in their product designs to achieve greater breakthroughs in the Grand Finale—a shared aspiration for both the competition and the participants.
